Baked Irish Shepherd's Pie

- β1 cup milkwhole or 2%
- β1 cup cheddar cheeseshredded
- β1 cup bread crumbswhole wheat or white

Preheat oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C).

In a large skillet, cook the ground lamb over medium-high heat until browned, breaking it up into small pieces as it cooks.

Add the chopped onion, minced garlic, peeled and chopped carrots, and frozen peas to the skillet. Cook until the vegetables are tender.

Stir in the all-purpose flour to thicken the mixture. Cook for 1-2 minutes.

Gradually add the unsalted butter and whole milk to the skillet, whisking constantly. Bring the mixture to a simmer.

Reduce heat to low and let the mixture simmer for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until melted and well combined.

Transfer the lamb and vegetable mixture to a 9x13 inch baking dish.

In a separate bowl, mix together the bread crumbs and a pinch of salt.
