Uruguayan Empanadas
A classic Uruguayan recipe for empanadas. Flaky pastry pockets filled with tender beef and onions.
Ingredients
- β500g Ground Beef80% lean
- β1 medium OnionChopped
- β2 cups All-purpose Flour
- β1 tsp Salt
- β1/2 tsp Black Pepper
- β1 EggBeaten
- β1/4 cup Water

1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, chopped onion, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.

2. Divide the dough into 8 equal pieces. Roll out each piece into a thin circle.

3. Place about 1/4 cup of the beef mixture in the center of each dough circle.

4. Fold the dough over the filling, forming a half-moon shape, and press the edges together to seal.

5. Brush the tops of the empanadas with the beaten egg.

6. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat.
