Braised Bitter Cabbage with Syrian Sausage
A hearty and flavorful dish made with tender cabbage and spicy Syrian sausage. Perfect for a cold evening.
Ingredients
- β1 pound Syrian sausagepreferably sweet or mild
- β1 head Bitter cabbagecored and chopped
- β1 large Red bell pepperchopped
- β1 cup Bakechopped into small pieces
- β2 tablespoons Olive oilfor browning
- β1 large Onionchopped
- β3 cloves Garlicminced
- βto taste Salt
- βto taste Black pepper

Heat the olive oil in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat.

Brown the sausage in batches until browned on all sides, about 5 minutes. Remove and set aside.

Add the chopped onion and red bell pepper to the pot and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.

Add the chopped bake and cook for an additional 2 minutes.

Add the chopped cabbage and cook until it begins to soften, about 5 minutes.

Add the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute, until fragrant.

Return the browned sausage to the pot and stir to combine.

Season with salt and black pepper to taste.

Bring the mixture to a simmer, then cover and transfer to the oven.
