Black Pepper Gratin
A simple gratin dish flavored with black pepper and topped with a crispy crust. Perfect as a side or light meal.
Ingredients
- ●1 1/2 pounds Norwegian potatoesthinly sliced
- ●2 tablespoons Black peppercoarsely ground
- ●1/2 cup Bitter creamheavy cream with a splash of milk
- ●1 cup Gratinshredded cheese blend
- ●1 teaspoon Saltto taste

Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).

In a large bowl, combine the sliced potatoes and enough cold water to cover them. Let sit for 5 minutes, then drain.

In a large saucepan, combine the potatoes, black pepper, salt, and enough cold water to cover. Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer for 10 minutes, or until slightly tender.

In a separate saucepan, combine the bitter cream and 1 tablespoon of the black pepper. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, then reduce the heat to low and let cook for 2-3 minutes, or until slightly thickened.

In a greased 9x13-inch baking dish, create a layer of the potatoes. Top with a layer of the cream mixture, followed by a sprinkle of the gratin cheese. Repeat this process two more times, ending with a layer of cheese on top.

Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 20 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the top is golden brown.

Remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 5-10 minutes, or until the top is crispy and golden brown.

Remove from the oven and let cool for 5-10 minutes before serving.
