Croatian Butter Cake
A traditional Croatian cake made with a buttery dough, crunchy topping and a hint of mirin.
Ingredients
- β1 cup Butteryat room temperature
- β1 cup Crunchychopped almonds
- β1/2 cup Croatiansour cream
- β2 tablespoons Mirinsweet Japanese cooking wine
- β1 large Honegg, beaten
- β1/2 cup Bakeall-purpose flour

Preheat oven to 350Β°F (180Β°C).

Grease a 9-inch round cake pan and set aside.

In a large mixing bowl, cream the butter until light and fluffy.

Add the beaten egg and mix until well combined.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, sour cream and mirin.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture and mix until a dough forms.

Roll out the dough to a thickness of 1/4 inch and place in the prepared cake pan.

Top with chopped almonds and bake for 35-40 minutes, or until golden brown.

Remove from oven and let cool in the pan for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
