Ukrainian Poached Pears with Chewy German Chocolate
A traditional Ukrainian dessert with a German twist, using poached pears and chewy chocolate.
Ingredients
- β4-6 Pears
- β4 cups Water
- β1 cup Granulated sugar
- β2 tbsp Lemon juice
- β8 oz Chewy German chocolate
- β1 cup Heavy cream
- β2 tbsp Unsalted butter
- βpinch Salt

In a large saucepan, combine the water, sugar, and lemon juice. Bring to a boil over high heat.

Reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer for 10 minutes.

Peel, core, and halve the pears. Add them to the saucepan and poach for 15-20 minutes, or until tender.

Remove the pears from the saucepan and let them cool.

Melt the chocolate in a double boiler or in the microwave in 30-second increments, stirring between each interval.

Dip each pear half into the melted chocolate, coating completely.

Place the chocolate-covered pears on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to set the chocolate.

Just before serving, drizzle with heavy cream and sprinkle with powdered sugar.
