Argentinian Citrus Empanadas
A vegan twist on traditional empanadas, filled with a citrusy and chewy filling, perfect for a snack or dessert.
Ingredients
- β2 cups masarepa
- β1/2 cup wateruse vegan water
- β1 cup citrusy fillingsee below for filling ingredients
- β1 tsp argentinian spice blenduse store-bought or homemade blend
- β1 cup chewy fillingsee below for filling ingredients
- β1/4 cup crumble

Preheat the oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C).

In a large bowl, mix together the masarepa and water until a dough forms.

Knead the dough for 5 minutes until it is smooth and pliable.

Divide the dough into 8 equal pieces.

Roll out each piece of dough into a thin circle.

Place a tablespoon of citrusy filling in the center of each circle.

Fold the dough in half and press the edges together to seal the empanada.

Place the empanadas on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Brush the tops of the empanadas with a little water and sprinkle with argentinian spice blend.

Bake the empanadas for 20-25 minutes, or until they are golden brown.

While the empanadas are baking, prepare the chewy filling by mixing together the citrusy filling ingredients.
