Ukrainian Apple Gratin
A twist on the classic gratin, incorporating hearty Ukrainian flavors and a hint of citrus.
Ingredients
- β3 large Apples
- β1 large Carrotspeeled and grated
- β2 large Potatoespeeled and thinly sliced
- β1 medium Onionthinly sliced
- β1 cup Breadcrumbswhole wheat
- β2 tablespoons Butter
- β1 cup Citrusy Cheeseshredded (such as cheddar or parmesan with lemon zest)
- βto taste Salt
- βto taste Black Pepper

Preheat oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C).

In a large bowl, combine grated carrots, sliced potatoes, and thinly sliced onion. Drizzle with butter and mix until potatoes are evenly coated.

In a separate bowl, mix together breadcrumbs and citrusy cheese.

In a greased 9x13-inch baking dish, create a layer of potatoes, followed by a layer of apples.

Repeat the potato and apple layers, finishing with a layer of potatoes on top.

Sprinkle the breadcrumb-cheese mixture evenly over the top layer of potatoes.

Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
