Cumin Fritters with Citrusy Dipping Sauce
A twist on the classic Ukrainian fritter, these cumin-spiced bites are served with a refreshing citrusy dipping sauce.
Ingredients
- β 1 cup all-purpose flourgluten-free flour for gluten-free option
- β 1/2 cup cornstarch
- β 1/2 cup grated carrots
- β 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
- β 1/4 cup cuminground
- β 1/2 cup roasted red pepperdiced
- β 1 egg
- β 1/4 cup water

1. Preheat the oil in a deep frying pan to 375Β°F (190Β°C).

2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cornstarch, carrots, cilantro, cumin, and salt.

3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg and water.

4. Add the egg mixture to the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.

5. Using a cookie scoop or spoon, drop the dough into the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pan.

6. Fry the fritters for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and crispy.

7. Remove the fritters from the oil with a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

8. Serve the fritters hot with a citrusy dipping sauce (see below).

9. To make the dipping sauce, mix together 1/2 cup of freshly squeezed lemon juice, 1/4 cup of olive oil, and 1 minced garlic clove in a small bowl.
