Classic Beef Empanadas
Delicious pastry pockets filled with seasoned ground beef, a classic Latin American dish.
Ingredients
- β500g Ground Beef
- β400g Pastry Dough
- β1 medium Onion
- β3 cloves Garlic
- βto taste Salt
- βto taste Pepper
- β1 Egg

Preheat the oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C).

Roll out the pastry dough to a thickness of 1/8 inch.

Cut out circles of dough using a cookie cutter or the rim of a glass.

In a pan over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned, breaking it up into small pieces as it cooks.

Add the onion and garlic to the pan and cook until the onion is translucent.

Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Place a tablespoon of the beef mixture onto one half of each dough circle.

Brush the edges of the dough with the beaten egg.

Fold the other half of the dough over the filling and press the edges together to seal the empanada.

Brush the tops of the empanadas with the remaining egg.

Place the empanadas on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
