Shepherd's Pie
A classic British comfort dish made with ground meat and topped with a crispy mashed potato crust.
Ingredients
- β500g Ground beef80/20 lean to fat ratio
- β1 medium Onion
- β2 medium Carrot
- β200g Peas
- β2 tbsp All-purpose flour
- β1 cup Breadcrumbs
- β100g Cheddar cheese
- β100ml Milk
- β50g Butter
- β2 large Mashed potatoes

Preheat the oven to 180Β°C.

In a large pan, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned, breaking it up into small pieces as it cooks.

Add the onion, carrot, and peas to the pan and cook until the vegetables are tender.

Add the flour to the pan and stir to combine. Cook for 1 minute.

Add the breadcrumbs and stir to combine. Cook for 2 minutes.

Transfer the meat mixture to a 20x20cm baking dish.

To make the mashed potato topping, boil the potatoes until tender, then mash with the butter and milk.

Spread the mashed potatoes over the top of the meat mixture.

Sprinkle the cheddar cheese over the top of the mashed potatoes.

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
