Japanese Lamb Katsu Casserole
A unique fusion of Japanese flavors and traditional lamb katsu, this casserole is a hearty and satisfying meal.
Ingredients
- β1.5 lbs Lamb shoulder
- β1 cup Crispy Japanese breadcrumbs
- β2 tsp Egyptian spices (cumin, coriander, cinnamon)
- β2 tbsp Olive oil
- β2 cups Sushi ricecooked according to package instructions
- β1/2 cup Teriyaki sauce
- β1/4 cup Green onionschopped

Preheat the oven to 400Β°F (200Β°C).

Season the lamb shoulder with Egyptian spices.

Dredge the lamb in crispy Japanese breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere.

Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the lamb until browned on all sides, about 2-3 minutes per side.

Transfer the lamb to a baking dish and set aside.

In the same skillet, add the teriyaki sauce and cook for 1-2 minutes, until slightly thickened.

Pour the teriyaki sauce over the lamb in the baking dish.

In a separate pot, heat the sushi rice according to package instructions.

To assemble the casserole, layer the sushi rice, lamb, and green onions in a 9x13 inch baking dish.

Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes.
