German Apple Crumble
A classic German dessert made with tender apples, crispy oat topping, and a hint of cinnamon.
Ingredients
- β1 1/2 pounds Apples (4-5)Granny Smith or other baking apples
- β1/2 teaspoon CinnamonGround cinnamon
- β1 1/2 cups Crispy OatsRolled oats or crispy oat topping
- β1/4 cup CrumbleGranulated sugar
- β2 tablespoons CornstarchTo thicken the apple filling
- β1/2 cup ButterUnsalted butter, melted
- β1 EggBeaten egg, for egg wash

Preheat oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C).

Peel, core, and slice the apples. In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, cornstarch, and cinnamon. Mix until the apples are evenly coated.

Transfer the apple mixture to a 9x9-inch baking dish.

In a separate bowl, mix together the crispy oats, crumble, and melted butter until crumbly.

Top the apple mixture with the crispy oat topping.

Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender.

Brush the beaten egg over the top of the crispy oat topping to create a golden glaze.
