Braised Tunisian Steak Tagine
A flavorful and hearty North African-inspired dish featuring a tender steak tagine, cooked in a rich and spicy sauce.
Ingredients
- β1.5 lbs steak
- β1 small jar crispyPreserved lemon, sliced
- β2 tbsp tunisianTunisian spice blend
- β2 tbsp olive oil
- β1 onionChopped
- β3 cloves garlicMinced
- β1 cup chicken broth
- β1 can diced tomatoes
- βto taste salt
- βto taste black pepper
Instructions

Heat oil in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat.

Sear the steak on both sides until browned, about 2-3 minutes per side.

Remove the steak from the pot and set aside.

Add the onion to the pot and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.

Add the garlic, Tunisian spice blend, and crispy to the pot and cook for 1 minute.

Add the chicken broth and diced tomatoes to the pot and stir to combine.

Return the steak to the pot and bring the mixture to a boil.

Reduce the heat to low and simmer, covered, for 2-3 hours, or until the steak is tender.
