Argentinian Beef Empanadas
A classic Argentine street food recipe featuring savory beef empanadas with gooey cheese filling. Perfect as a snack or appetizer.

- β1 medium OnionChopped
- β2 cloves GarlicMinced
- β2 tbsp Worcestershire SauceOptional
- β1 tsp Dark Brown SugarOptional
- β1 tsp Argentinian Spice BlendStore-bought or homemade
- β2 cups All-purpose FlourFor empanada dough
- β1 large EggBeaten for egg wash
- β1 cup Gooey Cheese (Monterey Jack or Cheddar)Shredded

Preheat oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C).

Make empanada dough by combining flour, salt, and water in a bowl. Knead for 5 minutes until smooth.

Divide dough into 8 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball and then flatten into a disk.

In a pan, cook ground beef over medium heat until browned, breaking into small pieces.

Add onion, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, and Argentinian spice blend to the pan. Cook until onion is translucent.

Spoon a tablespoon of the beef mixture onto one half of the dough disk. Top with a sprinkle of gooey cheese.

Brush the edges of the dough with the beaten egg for a golden glaze.

Fold the dough in half to enclose the filling. Press edges to seal.

Place empanadas on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush tops with egg wash.
