Brazilian Beef Stew
A rich and flavorful stew originating from Brazil, perfect for a cold winter's night.
Ingredients
- β1 pound Beef chuck or brisketCut into 1-inch cubes
- β1 large OnionChopped
- β3 cloves GarlicMinced
- β2 tablespoons Tomato paste
- β2 cups Beef broth
- β1 cup Red wineOptional
- β2 tablespoons Brown sugar
- β1 teaspoon Dried oregano
- β1 teaspoon Salt
- β1/2 teaspoon Black pepper

Heat oil in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat.

Brown the beef on all sides, about 5 minutes. Remove the beef from the pot and set aside.

Add the onion and garlic to the pot and cook until the onion is translucent, about 5 minutes.

Add the tomato paste and cook for 1 minute.

Add the beef broth, red wine (if using), brown sugar, oregano, salt, and pepper to the pot.

Stir to combine, then return the beef to the pot.

Cover the pot and transfer it to the oven.

Braise the stew for 2 1/2 to 3 hours, or until the beef is tender.
