Japanese-Style Takikomi Gohan
A traditional Japanese rice dish cooked with chicken and vegetables, perfect for a weeknight dinner. This recipe combines the flavors of Japan with the simplicity of a one-pot meal.
Ingredients
- β1 cup Japanese rice
- β1 pound chicken breastboneless, skinless
- β1/2 cup shredded carrots
- β1/2 cup diced mushrooms
- β1/4 cup diced green onions
- β2 tablespoons soy sauce
- β1 tablespoon sake (or dry white wine)
- β2 cups dashi broth

Heat a large saucepan over medium-high heat.

Add 2 tablespoons of oil and cook the chicken breast until browned, about 5 minutes.

Add the shredded carrots, diced mushrooms, and diced green onions. Cook until the vegetables are tender, about 3-4 minutes.
