Kenyan Meat Dumplings
A traditional Kenyan dish made with juicy meat and flavorful spices, served in a steamed dumpling. Perfect for a hearty meal.
Ingredients
- β1 pound Ground Beef
- β1 medium Onion
- β3 cloves Garlic
- β2 tablespoons Tomato Paste
- β1 teaspoon Kenyan Curry Powder
- β1/2 teaspoon Salt
- β1/4 teaspoon Black Pepper
- β2 cups All-purpose Flour
- β1 cup Water
- β1/4 cup Vegetable Oil

In a large pan, heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil over medium heat.

Add the onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.

Add the garlic and cook for 1 minute, until fragrant.

Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks.

Add the tomato paste, curry powder, salt, and black pepper. Cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.

Add the water and bring the mixture to a boil.

Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.

While the filling is cooking, mix the flour and a pinch of salt in a large bowl.

Add the warm water to the flour mixture and stir until a dough forms.

Knead the dough for 5 minutes, until smooth and elastic.

Divide the dough into small pieces and roll each one into a ball.

Flatten each ball of dough into a disk and place a tablespoon of the meat filling in the center.

Fold the dough over the filling to form a half-moon shape and press the edges together to seal.
