Pan-Seared Canadian Paella
A twist on the classic Spanish dish, this recipe features Canadian bacon and a crispy crust on the bottom.
Ingredients
- β1 pound Canadian bacon diced
- β1 cup paella rice uncooked
- β2 medium potatoes diced
- β1 teaspoon dried thyme
- β1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- β1/2 teaspoon salt
- β1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- β2 tablespoons olive oil

Heat the olive oil in a large paella pan over medium-high heat.

Add the Canadian bacon and cook until browned, about 5 minutes.

Add the potatoes, thyme, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook for 5 minutes.

Add the paella rice and stir to combine.

Cook for 2-3 minutes, until the rice is coated in oil and slightly toasted.

Add 2 cups of water to the pan and bring to a simmer.

Reduce the heat to low and cook, covered, for 20-25 minutes, or until the rice is tender and the liquid has been absorbed.
