Moroccan Turkey Tagine
A flavorful and aromatic North African stew made with turkey, spices, and dried fruits. Perfect for a cold winter night.
Ingredients
- β2 lbs 1 1/2 pounds boneless, skinless turkey thighscut into 1-inch pieces
- β2 tbsp 2 tablespoons olive oil
- β1 medium 1 onion, chopped
- β2 cloves 2 cloves garlic, minced
- β1 cup 2 cups chopped dried apricots
- β1 cup 2 cups chopped dates
- β1 tsp 2 teaspoons ground cumin
- β1 tsp 2 teaspoons smoked paprika
- β1 tsp 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- β1/4 tsp 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- β Salt and black pepper, to taste
- β 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley

Heat the oil in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat.

Brown the turkey in batches until browned, about 5 minutes. Set aside.

Add more oil if necessary and cook the onion until softened, about 5 minutes.

Add the garlic and cook for 1 minute.

Stir in the spices, apricots, and dates. Cook for 1 minute.

Return the turkey to the pot and stir to combine.

Add 1 cup of water to the pot and bring to a boil.

Transfer the pot to the preheated oven and cook for 25-30 minutes, or until the turkey is cooked through.

Stir in the parsley and season with salt and pepper to taste.
