Toor Dal with Syrian Flavor

- β1 cup Toor DalRinsed and drained
- β1 tablespoon Syrian fixGround spice blend
- β1 medium OnionChopped
- β2 cloves GarlicMinced
- β1 inch GingerGrated
- β1 teaspoon Cumin seedsWhole
- β1 teaspoon Coriander powderGround
- β1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powderGround
- β1/2 teaspoon SaltTo taste
- β4 cups WaterVegetable or chicken broth

Heat oil in a large pot over medium heat.

Add cumin seeds and let them sizzle for a few seconds.
