Venezuelan Plantain Stew
A hearty and flavorful stew originating from Venezuela, made with plantains and a variety of earthy spices.
Ingredients
- β2 large Plantains
- β1 tsp Earthily Smoked Paprika
- β1 tsp Venezuelan Cumin
- β1 lb Stew Meat (Braised Beef or Pork)
- β1 medium Onion
- β3 cloves Garlic
- β2 tbsp Tomato Paste
- β2 cups Vegetable Broth
- βto taste Salt
- βto taste Black Pepper

Heat oil in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat.

Brown the stew meat in batches until browned on all sides.

Add onion and garlic to the pot and cook until the onion is translucent.

Add smoked paprika, cumin, salt, and black pepper to the pot and stir to combine.

Add tomato paste and cook for 1-2 minutes.

Add plantains, vegetable broth, and browned stew meat to the pot.

Bring the stew to a boil, then cover the pot and transfer it to the oven.

Braise the stew for 2-3 hours, or until the plantains are tender.
