Egyptian Fermented Dumplings
A traditional Egyptian dish made with fermented ingredients and dense dumplings. Serve with your favorite salad or soup.
Ingredients
- β2 cups Fermented Egyptian flourMake sure to use a fermented flour for the authentic taste
- β1 cup Dense Egyptian flourUse a high-quality dense flour for the dumpling dough
- β1 cup WaterUse lukewarm water for the dough
- β1 tsp SaltUse a pinch of salt for flavor
- β2 tbsp Olive oilUse a mild olive oil for frying the dumplings
- β1 medium OnionChop the onion finely for the dumpling filling
- β3 cloves GarlicMince the garlic for the dumpling filling
- β1 tsp CuminUse a pinch of cumin for flavor

Combine fermented and dense Egyptian flour in a large mixing bowl.

Gradually add water and salt to the flour mixture. Mix until a smooth dough forms.

Knead the dough for 10 minutes until it becomes elastic.

Divide the dough into small balls, about the size of a golf ball.

Roll out each ball into a thin circle.

Place a tablespoon of onion and garlic mixture in the center of each circle.

Fold the dough over the filling and press the edges together to seal the dumpling.

Heat olive oil in a large pan over medium heat.
