German Beetroot Sauerbraten
A unique twist on the traditional German dish, featuring fermented flavors and beetroot. Serve with a side of braised red cabbage for a hearty meal.
Ingredients

- β1 cup fermented sauerkraut
- β1 bunused for serving
- β1 tsp caraway seeds
- β2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- β2 tbsp brown sugar
- β2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- β1 cup water
- β1 tsp salt
- β1/2 tsp black pepper

1. Preheat oven to 300Β°F (150Β°C).

2. Peel and chop the beetroot into 1-inch pieces.

3. In a large bowl, combine the beetroot, sauerkraut, caraway seeds, flour, sugar, vinegar, water, salt, and pepper. Mix well.

4. Transfer the mixture to a large Dutch oven or oven-safe pot.

5. Cover the pot and transfer it to the preheated oven.

6. Braise the mixture for 2 hours, or until the beetroot is tender.

7. Serve the sauerbraten hot, garnished with fresh parsley, with a side of braised red cabbage.
