Middle Eastern Shakshuka
A flavorful and spicy North African-inspired egg dish. Shakshuka is a great brunch option, packed with protein and veggies.
Ingredients
- β1 medium Onionthinly sliced
- β1 large Red bell pepperdiced
- β2 tbsp Fiery harissaadjust to taste
- β2 Eggs
- β1/4 cup Fresh parsleychopped
- βto taste Salt
- βto taste Black pepper
- β1 cup Shakshuka saucehomemade or store-bought
Instructions

Preheat oven to 400Β°F (200Β°C).

Heat 2 tbsp of olive oil in a large cast-iron skillet over medium heat.

Add the sliced onion and cook until translucent, about 5 minutes.

Add the diced red bell pepper and cook for another 5 minutes.

Add the harissa and cook for 1 minute.

Make 2 wells in the pepper mixture and crack an egg into each well.

Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the eggs are cooked to your liking.

Remove the skillet from the oven and sprinkle with chopped parsley.

Season with salt and black pepper to taste.

Serve the shakshuka with warm pita bread or over rice.
