Venezuelan Chicken Empanadas
A classic Venezuelan dish, these empanadas are filled with spicy chicken and perfect for a snack or meal.
Ingredients
- β1 pound chicken breastboneless and skinless
- β1 medium onionchopped
- β2 cloves garlicminced
- β2 teaspoons cuminground
- β1 teaspoon paprikasmoked
- β1 teaspoon fiery pepperdiced
- β2 cups all-purpose flourfor empanada dough
- β1 cup waterfor empanada dough
Instructions

Preheat oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C).

In a pan, heat 2 tablespoons of oil over medium heat.

Add the chopped onion and cook until translucent.

Add the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute.

Add the cumin, paprika, and diced fiery pepper. Cook for 1 minute.

Add the chicken breast and cook until browned.

In a separate bowl, mix together the flour and water to make the empanada dough.

Roll out the dough to a thickness of 1/8 inch.

Cut out circles of dough using a cookie cutter or the rim of a glass.

Place a spoonful of the chicken mixture onto one half of the dough circle.

Fold the dough in half and press the edges to seal.

Brush the tops with egg wash and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
