Canadian Flavored Croustade
A flavorful twist on a classic croustade, featuring Canadian bacon, caramelized onions, and a hint of spice.
Ingredients
- ●6 slices Canadian baconThinly sliced
- ●1 medium red onionSliced
- ●1 (10 oz) package flavorful crouteThawed
- ●1 (14 oz) package en croûte pastryThawed
- ●2 large eggsBeaten
- ●1/2 cup grated cheddar cheeseOptional

Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).

Roll out the en croûte pastry to a thickness of about 1/8 inch.

In a skillet, cook the Canadian bacon over medium heat until lightly browned.

Add the sliced red onion to the skillet and cook until caramelized.

Place the cooked Canadian bacon and onion mixture onto one half of the pastry, leaving a 1/2 inch border around the edges.

Sprinkle the grated cheddar cheese over the top of the bacon and onion mixture.

Brush the edges of the pastry with the beaten eggs.

Fold the other half of the pastry over the filling and press the edges to seal.

Use a knife to cut a few slits in the top of the pastry to allow steam to escape.

Place the croustade on a baking sheet and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.
