Tunisian Meat Brik
A traditional Tunisian dish featuring a crispy brik pastry filled with spiced meat, perfect for a snack or light meal.
Ingredients
- β1 package Flaky puff pastry (brik)Thawed
- β500g Ground meat (beef or lamb)Mix of beef and lamb
- β1 medium OnionChopped
- β3 cloves GarlicMinced
- β2 tbsp Tunisian spice mix (harissa)Adjust to taste
- βto taste Salt and pepperSeasoning
- β1 EggBeaten

Preheat oven to 400Β°F (200Β°C).

Roll out puff pastry on a floured surface to a thickness of about 1/8 inch.

Cut out squares of pastry, about 3 inches per side.

In a bowl, mix together ground meat, chopped onion, minced garlic, Tunisian spice mix, salt, and pepper.

Place a tablespoon of the meat mixture in the center of each pastry square.

Brush the edges of the pastry with the beaten egg.

Fold the pastry in half to form a triangle, pressing the edges to seal.

Brush the tops of the brik with the remaining egg.

Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until crispy and golden brown.
