Malaysian Fluffy Bao
A sweet and fluffy bao filled with a cherry compote, inspired by Malaysian flavors.
Ingredients
- β250g fluffy
- β1 cup all-purpose flourfor bao dough
- β1 tsp yeastactive dry yeast
- β1 cup cherryfresh or frozen
- β1/2 cup sugarfor cherry compote
- β1 cup waterfor bao dough
- β1 tbsp vegetable oilfor brushing bao

1. In a large mixing bowl, combine fluffy, all-purpose flour, and yeast.

2. Gradually add water to the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.

3. Knead the dough for 10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.

4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour.

5. Preheat a steamer or a pot with a steamer basket to cook the bao.

6. Divide the dough into 4 equal portions and shape each portion into a ball.

7. Flatten each ball into a disk and place it in the steamer basket.

8. Steam the bao for 10-12 minutes or until they are cooked through.

9. Meanwhile, combine cherry and sugar in a saucepan and cook over medium heat until the cherry releases its juice and the mixture thickens.

10. Brush the cooked bao with vegetable oil and split them open.
