Classic Korean Gimbap
A simple and delicious Korean dish made with rice and various fillings, served in a roll.
Ingredients
- β2 cups Short-grain white rice
- β8-10 sheets Rolled gimbap sheets
- β1 cup Fragrant vegetables (e.g., carrots, cucumber)
- β1 cup Springy kimchi (store-bought or homemade)
- β1/4 cup Dates (chopped)
- β1 tsp Korean chili flakes (gochugaru)
- β2 tbsp Soy sauce
- β1 tsp Sesame oil
Instructions

Cook the short-grain white rice according to package instructions.

Prepare the fillings by chopping the fragrant vegetables and springy kimchi.

Assemble the gimbap by spreading a thin layer of rice onto the center of a rolled gimbap sheet.

Add a few pieces of the chopped vegetables and kimchi on top of the rice.

Drizzle with soy sauce and sprinkle with Korean chili flakes.

Roll the gimbap tightly and secure with a small piece of rice.

Repeat with the remaining ingredients.

Cut the gimbap into 1-inch pieces and serve immediately.

Optional: Pan-fry the gimbap in a little sesame oil until crispy and golden brown.
