Croatian Beef Goulash
A hearty and flavorful beef stew originating from Croatia, made with tender chunks of beef, fresh vegetables, and a rich broth.
Ingredients
- β1.5 lbs Beef (1.5 lbs)Chuck or round work well
- β1 large OnionChopped
- β3 cloves GarlicMinced
- β2 medium CarrotChopped
- β2 stalks CeleryChopped
- β4 cups Beef brothHomemade or store-bought
- β2 tbsp Tomato pasteDissolved in 2 cups of water
- β1/4 cup CrumbleOptional

Heat 2 tbsp of oil in a large pot over medium heat.

Add the chopped onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.

Add the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute.

Add the chopped carrot and celery and cook for 5 minutes.

Add the beef and cook until browned on all sides, about 5 minutes.

Add the beef broth, tomato paste, and dissolved tomato paste.

Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer for 1.5 hours.

Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley and crumble on top if desired.
