Crispy Wonton Soup with Hake
A light and flavorful Chinese-inspired soup featuring crispy wontons and pan-seared hake. Perfect for a cold winter day.
Ingredients
- β1 package Fresh wontons (4-6 pieces)homemade or store-bought
- β2 fillets Hake fillets (4 oz each)skin removed
- β2 cups Chinese soup brothhomemade or store-bought
- β2 tbsp Vegetable oil
- β1 tsp Sesame oil
- β2 tsp Soy sauce
- β1 bunch Scallionschopped
- β1-inch piece Gingersliced
- β2 cloves Garlicminced
- βto taste Salt
Instructions

Heat 1 tbsp of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

Add the hake fillets and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until cooked through.

Remove the hake from the skillet and set aside.

In the same skillet, add the remaining 1 tbsp of vegetable oil.

Add the sliced ginger and minced garlic and cook for 1 minute, or until fragrant.

Add the Chinese soup broth to the skillet and bring to a boil.

Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 2-3 minutes.

Add the wontons to the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes, or until they float to the surface.

Stir in the soy sauce and sesame oil.

Return the hake to the skillet and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes, or until the fish is coated in the sauce.
