Korean Fried Kalguksu with Monterey Jack Cheese
A fusion dish that combines the crispy texture of Korean fried noodles with the gooey goodness of melted Monterey Jack cheese.
Ingredients
- β8 oz Kalguksu (Korean noodles)
- β8 oz, shredded Monterey Jack cheeseOptional: Add other cheeses like cheddar or mozzarella for a unique flavor
- β1 tsp Korean chili flakes (gochugaru)Adjust to taste for desired level of spiciness
- βenough for breading noodles Fried (for breading)
- β2 cups Vegetable oilFor deep-frying noodles
- β1 bunch, chopped Green onionsFor garnish

1. Cut the kalguksu noodles into smaller pieces to make them easier to coat and fry.

2. In a shallow dish, mix together the fried coating and a pinch of salt.

3. Dip each noodle piece into the fried coating mixture, pressing the crumbs onto the noodles to help them stick.

4. Heat about 2 cups of vegetable oil in a deep frying pan over medium-high heat until it reaches 350Β°F.

5. Fry the coated noodle pieces in batches until they are golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per batch.

6. Remove the fried noodles from the oil with a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

7. In a separate pan, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Add the chopped green onions and cook until softened.

8. Add the shredded Monterey Jack cheese to the pan and stir until melted and gooey.

9. Add the fried noodles to the cheese mixture and stir until well combined.

10. Serve the Korean fried kalguksu hot, garnished with additional green onions and a drizzle of soy sauce and sesame oil if desired.
