Garlicky Algerian Chicken Tagine
A flavorful North African-inspired stew made with chicken, aromatics, and spices, cooked to perfection in a traditional clay pot.
Ingredients
- β1 1/2 pounds Chicken breast or thighsBoneless and skinless
- β4 cloves GarlicMinced
- β2 tablespoons GarlickyChopped
- β2 teaspoons AlgerianGround cumin
- β1 cup TagineDried apricots
- β2 cups Chicken brothLow-sodium
- β2 tablespoons Olive oilExtra virgin
- β1 teaspoon SaltOptional
- β1/2 teaspoon Black pepperOptional
Instructions

Heat the olive oil in the bottom of a traditional clay pot or Dutch oven over medium heat.

Add the minced garlic and cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

Add the chopped garlicky and cook for an additional minute.

Add the chicken to the pot and cook until browned on all sides.

Add the cumin, apricots, broth, salt, and pepper to the pot.

Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and simmer, covered, for 25-30 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through.
