Syrian Tagine with Roasted Turkey
A flavorful and aromatic tagine dish from the Middle East, featuring roasted turkey and garlicky sauce.
Ingredients
- ●boneless and skinless 1 1/2 pounds turkey breastpreferably organic
- ● 2 tablespoons olive oil
- ● 1 large onion, chopped
- ● 3 cloves garlic, mincedgarlicky
- ● 2 teaspoons ground cumin
- ● 1 teaspoon ground coriander
- ● 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepperoptional
- ● 1/2 cup chicken broth
- ● 1/4 cup water
- ● 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley

Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).

Season the turkey breast with salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper (if using).

Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large Dutch oven or oven-safe pot over medium-high heat.

Sear the turkey breast until browned on both sides, about 2-3 minutes per side.

Remove the turkey from the pot and set aside.

Reduce the heat to medium and add the remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil.

Add the chopped onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.

Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.

Add the cumin, coriander, and chicken broth to the pot, stirring to combine.

Return the turkey breast to the pot and cover with a lid.

Transfer the pot to the preheated oven and roast for 30 minutes.

Reduce the heat to 375°F (190°C) and continue roasting for an additional 20-25 minutes, or until the turkey is cooked through.
