Vietnamese-Style Carne Guisada Tacos
A fusion of traditional Mexican tacos filled with slow-cooked Vietnamese-inspired beef shank, served with crispy bun and a side of spicy nuong salsa.
Ingredients
- β1 pound garlicky beef shankcut into 2-inch pieces
- β2 tablespoons vietnamese fish sauceadjust to taste
- β1 teaspoon hindi coriander powderground spices
- β4-6 pieces bun (rice or wheat)for serving
- β1/4 cup thit nuong sauce (peanut butter, soy sauce, lime juice)store-bought or homemade
- β1/4 cup sour creamoptional topping
- β1/2 cup cucumberdiced for topping
- β4-6 lime wedgesfor serving
- β1/4 cup chopped cilantrofor garnish

Heat oil in a large Dutch oven over medium-high. Sear beef shank pieces until browned on all sides.

Add fish sauce, coriander powder, and 1 cup water. Bring to a boil, then cover and transfer to oven at 300Β°F (150Β°C) for 2-3 hours, or until tender.

While beef cooks, toast bun pieces until crispy. Chop cilantro for garnish.

Assemble tacos by placing beef shank on toasted bun, topping with nuong sauce, sour cream, cucumber, and cilantro.
