Tarte Tatin
A classic French dessert made by cooking caramelized apples in butter and sugar, then topping them with pastry.
Ingredients
- β1/2 cup (1 stick) Gooey Butter
- β1 sheet French Tarte Pastry
- β1/4 cup, chopped Hazlenuts
- β3-4, peeled and sliced Apples
- β1/2 cup Granulated Sugar
- β1/4 teaspoon Cinnamon
- β1/4 teaspoon Salt

Preheat oven to 425Β°F (220Β°C).

Roll out the tarte pastry and place it in a 9-inch tart pan with a removable bottom.

In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, granulated sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Mix well to coat the apples evenly.

Arrange the apple mixture in a concentric circle pattern, leaving a 1-inch border around the edges.

Dot the top of the apples with the gooey butter.

Fold the edges of the pastry up over the apples, pressing gently to seal.

Bake the tarte for 25-30 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and the apples are tender.

Remove the tarte from the oven and sprinkle with chopped hazlenuts.

Let the tarte cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Serve the tarte warm, topped with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream if desired.
