Delicious Lamb Tagine
A traditional North African stew made with tender lamb, rich spices, and sweet dried fruits. This flavorful dish is perfect for a special occasion or a cozy night in.
Ingredients
- β1.5 kg lamb shouldercut into 2-inch pieces
- β2 tbsp turkish olive oilfor browning the lamb
- β1 large onionchopped
- β3 cloves garlicminced
- β1 tsp tagine spice mixavailable at most Middle Eastern markets
- β1 cup dried apricotschopped
- β2 tbsp honeyto balance the flavors
- β1 cup waterfor cooking the tagine
Instructions

Heat the olive oil in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat.

Brown the lamb pieces in batches until they're nicely browned, about 5 minutes per batch.

Remove the lamb from the pot and set it aside.

Reduce the heat to medium and cook the chopped onion until it's softened and lightly browned, about 8 minutes.

Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute, stirring constantly to prevent burning.

Stir in the tagine spice mix and cook for 1-2 minutes, until fragrant.

Add the browned lamb back into the pot, along with the chopped apricots and honey.

Pour in the water and bring the mixture to a boil.

Cover the pot and transfer it to the oven.

Bake the tagine for 2-1/2 to 3 hours, or until the lamb is tender and the sauce has thickened.
