Char Siu Bao
Traditional Chinese steamed buns filled with sweet and savory char siu pork.
Ingredients
- β500g chickenboneless, skinless
- β2 tbsp sauceschar siu, hoisin
- β4 bunsstore-bought or homemade
- β4 slices baconfor garnish
- β4 spring onionsfor garnish
- β1 tsp herbschopped scallions, sesame seeds
- β1 tsp soy saucefor marinating
- β1 tsp sugarfor marinating
- β1 tsp gingergrated
- β1 tsp garlicminced
Instructions

Combine soy sauce, sugar, ginger, and garlic in a bowl.

Add chicken to the bowl and marinate for at least 30 minutes.

Preheat oven to 400Β°F (200Β°C).

Remove chicken from marinade and bake for 20-25 minutes.

While chicken is baking, mix char siu and hoisin sauces in a small bowl.

Assemble buns by spreading sauce mixture on the bottom half, then adding baked chicken and topping with the other half.

Garnish with bacon, spring onions, and herbs.
