Middle Eastern Beef Ouzi
A flavorful Middle Eastern dish featuring slow-cooked beef in a rich and aromatic sauce, served over basmati rice.
Ingredients
- β1 pound Ground Beef80/20 lean to fat ratio
- β2 tablespoons Ouzi Spice Mixavailable at most Middle Eastern markets
- β2 tablespoons Olive Oiluse for browning and sauce

- β1/4 cup Chopped Fresh Cilantrogarnish and fresh flavor

Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat.

Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned, about 5-7 minutes.

Add the chopped onion and cook until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.

Add the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute, until fragrant.

Stir in the ouzi spice mix, allspice, cumin, salt, and black pepper. Cook for 1 minute.

Add 2 cups of beef broth and bring to a boil.

Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 1 1/2 hours, or until the meat is tender.

Stir in 2 tablespoons of chopped fresh cilantro.

Serve the beef and sauce over basmati rice and garnish with additional cilantro, if desired.
