Tunisian Tagine Chicken
A hearty and flavorful dish from Tunisia, made with tender chicken, aromatic spices, and a rich sauce. Serve with couscous or crusty bread.
Ingredients
- β1 1/2 pounds chicken thighsbone-in, skin-on
- β2 teaspoons intense black pepper
- β2 teaspoons tunisian spicesa blend of cumin, coriander, and paprika
- β2 tablespoons olive oil
- β1 medium onionchopped
- β3 cloves garlicminced
- β2 cups chicken broth
- β1 cup tagine saucestore-bought or homemade
Instructions

Heat the oil in the bottom of a clay tagine or large Dutch oven over medium heat.

Add the onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.

Add the garlic and cook for 1 minute.

Add the chicken and cook until browned on all sides, about 5-7 minutes.

Add the spices, broth, and tagine sauce. Bring to a boil, then cover and simmer for 30 minutes.

Transfer the tagine to the oven and bake at 300Β°F (150Β°C) for 30-40 minutes, or until the chicken is tender.

Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley and crusty bread on the side.
