Chicken Tagine with Smoky Flavor
A hearty Moroccan-inspired stew made with chicken, intensely smoky spices, and sweet mediterranean flavors.
Ingredients
- β1 1/2 pounds chicken thighsbone-in and skin-on
- β2 teaspoons smoky paprikaground
- β3 cloves garlicminced
- β1 tablespoon gingergrated
- β2 tablespoons olive oilunflavored
- β1 large onionchopped
- β1 teaspoon cuminground
- β1 teaspoon corianderground
- β1 teaspoon saltground
- β1/2 teaspoon black pepperground

Season the chicken with salt and black pepper.

Heat the olive oil in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat.

Sear the chicken on both sides until browned, about 5 minutes.

Remove the chicken from the pot and set aside.

Add the chopped onion to the pot and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.

Add the minced garlic and grated ginger to the pot and cook for 1 minute.

Add the ground cumin and coriander to the pot and cook for 1 minute.

Add the ground smoky paprika to the pot and cook for 1 minute.

Add 1 cup of water to the pot and bring to a boil.

Return the chicken to the pot and cover with a lid.

Simmer the tagine over low heat for 30 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through.
