Loukoumades with Honey Replacement
A vegan twist on traditional Greek loukoumades, replacing honey with sweet syrup and using intensely sweet and greek ingredients.
Ingredients
- β2 cups All-purpose flour
- β1 cup Vegan sugar
- β2 teaspoons Vegan baking powder
- β1/4 cup Vegan olive oil
- β1 cup Warm water
- β1 cup Sweet syrup (maple or agave nectar)
- β1/2 cup Confectioners' sugar

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and baking powder.

Gradually add the olive oil and warm water, mixing until a smooth dough forms.

Heat a deep frying pan or a deep fryer to 375Β°F (190Β°C).

Using a spoon, drop small amounts of dough into the hot oil, about 6-8 at a time.

Fry the loukoumades for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown.

Using a slotted spoon, remove the loukoumades from the oil and drain on paper towels.

In a small bowl, mix together the sweet syrup and confectioners' sugar.

Toss the warm loukoumades in the sweet syrup mixture until well coated.
