Jagged Mexican Pork Tamales
A twist on traditional tamales, filled with shredded pork, wrapped in a flavorful corn masa and steamed to perfection.
Ingredients
- β2 cups corn masa
- β1/2 cup water
- β2 lbs pork shoulder
- β1 jagged pepper
- β1 large onion
- β3 cloves garlic
- β1 tsp cumin
- β1 tsp chili powder
- β1 tsp salt
- β1/4 cup chopped cilantro

Shred pork shoulder and set aside.

Char jagged pepper and onion over an open flame until tender.

Mince garlic and sautΓ© with cumin, chili powder and salt.

Combine pork, pepper, onion and garlic mixture.

Mix corn masa with water and knead until pliable.

Cut masa into 8-10 equal pieces.

Shape masa into a ball and flatten into a disk.

Place 1/4 cup of pork mixture in the center of the masa.

Fold masa into a triangle and press edges together.

Repeat with remaining masa and filling.

Steam tamales for 45-60 minutes or until masa is tender.
