Croatian Pork Lasagna
A hearty lasagna dish featuring slow-cooked Croatian pork in a rich tomato sauce, layered with crispy jagged pasta and creamy cheese.
Ingredients
- β1 (1.5-2 pound) pound Croatian pork shoulder
- β8-10 sheets Jagged lasagna noodles
- β6 slices Crisp croatian bacon
- β28 oz Canned crushed tomatoes
- β2 tablespoons Olive oil
- β3 cloves Garlicminced
- β1 medium Onionchopped
- βto taste Salt
- βto taste Black pepper
- β1 cup Grated Parmesan cheese
- β2 cups Shredded mozzarella cheese

Preheat oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C).

Cook jagged lasagna noodles according to package instructions.

In a large skillet, cook crisp croatian bacon until crispy. Remove from heat and set aside.

In the same skillet, cook Croatian pork shoulder until browned, about 5 minutes.

Add olive oil, garlic, and onion to the skillet and cook until onion is translucent.

Stir in crushed tomatoes, salt, and black pepper. Bring to a simmer and let cook for 10-15 minutes.

In a large bowl, combine cooked lasagna noodles, pork and tomato sauce mixture, and crispy bacon.

In a 9x13 inch baking dish, create a thin layer of sauce on the bottom.

Arrange 4 lasagna noodles on top of the sauce, followed by half of the pork and tomato sauce mixture.

Sprinkle with half of the Parmesan cheese and half of the mozzarella cheese.

Repeat the layers, starting with the noodles, then the pork and tomato sauce mixture, and finally the remaining cheese.

Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes.

Remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Let the lasagna rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing and serving.
