Scottish Shepherd's Pie
A traditional Scottish dish made with ground meat and topped with a layer of mashed potatoes and cheese.
Ingredients
- β500g Ground Beef
- β1 OnionChopped
- β2 CarrotChopped
- β150g Peas
- β250ml Red Wine
- β200ml Beef Broth
- β4-5 Mashed Potatoes
- β100g Grated Cheddar Cheese

Preheat the oven to 180Β°C.

In a large pan over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned, breaking it up into small pieces as it cooks.

Add the chopped onion and carrot to the pan and cook until the vegetables are softened.

Add the peas, red wine, and beef broth to the pan and stir to combine.

Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook for 10 minutes.

Meanwhile, prepare the mashed potatoes by boiling them in salted water until they are tender.

Drain the potatoes and mash them with butter and milk.

Transfer the meat mixture to a baking dish and top with the mashed potatoes.

Sprinkle the grated cheese over the top of the potatoes.

Bake the pie in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the potatoes are golden brown and the filling is hot and bubbly.
