Irish Stew with Bramley Apples
A hearty and flavorful Irish stew made with tender lamb, crunchy Bramley apples, and a hint of sweetness.
Ingredients
- β1.5 lbs Irish stewing lambcut into 1-inch cubes
- β2 Bramley applespeeled and chopped
- β1 large onionchopped
- β2 tbsp all-purpose flourfor dusting lamb
- β2 tbsp vegetable oilfor browning lamb
- β2 cups beef brothhomemade or store-bought
- β1 cup red wine (optional)for added flavor

Heat the oil in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat.

Brown the lamb in batches until browned on all sides, then set aside.

Add the chopped onion to the pot and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.

Add the flour to the pot and cook for 1 minute.

Gradually add the beef broth, whisking continuously to avoid lumps.

Return the browned lamb to the pot and add the chopped Bramley apples.

Bring the stew to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and simmer, covered, for 2 hours.
