Traditional British Pork Pie
A classic British dish made with slow-cooked pork and a flaky pastry crust.
Ingredients
- β1.5 lbs Pork shoulder
- β2 cups All-purpose flour
- β1/2 cup Cold unsalted butter
- β1 Egg
- β1 tsp Salt
- β1 tsp Black pepper
- β1 medium Onion
- β3 cloves Garlic
- β1 cup Mushrooms
- β1/4 cup Brown gravy
- βhomemade or store-bought Pie dough

Preheat oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C).

Roll out pie dough to a thickness of about 1/8 inch.

Transfer the dough to a 9-inch pie dish.

In a large skillet, cook the pork over medium-high heat until browned, about 5 minutes.

Add the onion, garlic, and mushrooms to the skillet and cook until the vegetables are softened.

Stir in the brown gravy and bring to a simmer.

Transfer the pork mixture to the pie crust.

Roll out the remaining pie dough to a thickness of about 1/8 inch.

Use the dough to cover the pie and crimp the edges to seal.

Cut a few slits in the top of the pie to allow steam to escape.

Bake the pie for 25-30 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown.
