Tunisian Smoked Meat Tagine
A traditional Tunisian dish made with slow-cooked smoked meat and aromatic spices. This rich and flavorful tagine is perfect for a cold winter's night.
Ingredients
- β1 (1.5 kg) Smoked lamb shoulder
- β2 Onionchopped
- β3 cloves Garlicminced
- β1 piece Gingergrated
- β1 tsp Cinnamon
- β1 tsp Cumin
- β1 tsp Paprika
- β1 tsp Salt
- β1/2 tsp Black pepper
Instructions

Heat oil in a large clay pot or Dutch oven over medium heat.

Add the onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.

Add the garlic and ginger and cook for 1 minute.

Add the lamb shoulder and cook until browned on all sides, about 5 minutes.

Add the cinnamon, cumin, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Stir to combine.

Add enough water to cover the lamb and bring to a boil.

Cover the pot and transfer to the oven. Braise the lamb for 2 1/2 hours, or until tender.

Remove the pot from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes.
