Uruguayan Empanadas
A traditional Uruguayan recipe for empanadas filled with beef and onions.
Ingredients
- ●1 pound Uruguayan beef
- ●1 large Onion
- ●2 cups, crumbled Bread
- ●1 package, thawed Knotted dough
- ●1 cup Crunchy empanada topping
Instructions

Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).

In a large skillet, cook beef and onion over medium-high heat until browned, breaking up beef with a spoon as it cooks.

Stir in bread crumbs and cook for 2-3 minutes.

Allow the filling to cool completely.

Roll out the knotted dough on a floured surface to a thickness of about 1/8 inch.

Cut out circles of dough using a cookie cutter or the rim of a glass.

Place a tablespoon of the cooled filling in the center of each dough circle.

Fold the dough over the filling and press the edges together to seal the empanada.

Place the empanadas on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Brush the tops of the empanadas with a little water and sprinkle with crunchy empanada topping.

Bake in preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
